WEDDING AT THE ELVETHAM
I went and helped out Gemma from Romy Lawrence Photography when she needed a last minute second photographer for a wedding at The Elvetham (website).
What a venue! As soon as I drove in I could see why Gio and Shereen picked it. The grounds are huge and perfectly landscaped, the venue has this amazing 19th century architecture with a crazy number of rooms with loads of big bright windows (we, photographers, LIVE for big windows) and the staff was lovely.
Gio and Shereen held their ceremony in one of the most beautiful rooms, followed by a blessing by Shereen’s granddad outside in the garden. They had a saxophonist play whilst the guests were being served drinks and canapes, far away from the chaos of the dreaded groups shots (okay this is exaggerated, it actually went really well). The guests were then invited to sit down for the wedding breakfast in the conservatory which kind turned into a sauna with the 30 degrees heat, although it cooled down as soon as the sun started to go down.
At sunset Emma and I took Gio and Shereen around the venue for their couple portraits and they were awesome. They couldn’t stop smiling and laughing, especially as Shereen had Gio carry a half empty bottle of champagne and a glass around with them so the staff wouldn’t take it away.
Once we got back it was cake cutting time which took place in yet another room, well a staircase but a freaking majestic one. And then Gio and Shereen had their first dance in, you guessed it, another room (I told you the venue has loads of rooms!).
